- Soften oats in water to make a good face and body scrub.
- Moisturise your body with olive oil.
- Almond oil moisturises and doubles up as eye make-up remover.
Clear Skin
- For oily skin, make a tonic from orange juice and rose water. For a deep clean, add distilled witch hazel.
- For dry skin, cleanse with natrual yoghurt.
- Steaming is the most thorough cleanse for all skin types. Lean over a bowl of hot water, covering your head with a towel. Add a few sprigs of lavender to stimulate spirit and skin.
Sweetie pie facial scrub and mask
Ingredients
2 tablespoons oatmeal
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon powdered milk
3 teaspoons water
Mix the oatmeal and sugar, then add the milk and finally the water. the mixture should hold together loosely in your hand. If it's too dry to smooth accross your face, add more water. Dampen face and apply using cicular motions. Leave on for 15 minuts while you rest. Rince with warm water and follow with a toner and moisturiser.
Beauty Balm
For rashes, itching dry skin. Comforting Calendula salve.
Ingredients
25g dried calendula (marigold) flowers
150ml olive oil
25g beeswax
The oil base
Place the marigold flowers in a glass jar, pour on the olive oil and leave the mixture to steep. (add lavender heads to add a beautiful aroma) Shake daily for three weeks, then you'll have a soothing iol base for the salve. Strain through a muslin into a bowl, squeezing and pressing until the last drops are filtered.
The salve
Place a heat-proof measuring jug in a saucepan containing about 10cm of water, over medium heat. Add the oil and then the grated beeswax and stir with a chopstick until thoroughly melted. Pour it into wide-mouthed jars and allow to cool and solidify
To perfect your salve drop a small amount of the salve onto a saucer, and pop into the freezer for a minute to cool. If you want harder salve, add a little beeswax. If you don't feel the salve is hard enough, add a little oil.
store away from heat and light.
